Hackathon is an event or competition held to engage in collaborative Computer Programming.
So my first Hackathon was a short one, roughly 8 hours. We were asked to form a group of 4. And the project given was to come up with a creative solution in order to increase the potential for future tourism in the country. Requirements were, it to be a Website with frontend built solely on React JS and backend to be built in any desired framework/language.
At first, we were overwhelmed because we were restricted to a short deadline. We knew we wouldn’t be able to finish with a perfect solution with a perfect UI before the given deadline. So we gave importance to the Idea/Solution. Spent a lot of time figuring out a good solution with a clean UI, and created a UI layout with photoshop as a guide to help us create it in React.
We were not able to develop in React completely but made sure the solution was heard.
End of the day, we learnt more than programming, which was a really valuable experience.
